ΧΑΙΡΕΤΙΣΜΟΣ ΘΕΡΙΝΟ ΣΧΟΛΕΙΟ 10TH INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL: MEDICAL LAW AND BIOETHICS: BEYOND THE HUMAN: ENVIRONMENTAL AND ANIMAL HEALTH/ BIOETHICAL ISSUES

Distinguished organizers, dear participants,
It is with great pleasure that I extend my warm greetings to all of you attending the 10th International Summer School on Medical Law and Bioethics, which this year focuses on a particularly timely and thought-provoking theme.
The topics explored during this Summer School fall directly within the scope of the Special Permanent Committee on Research and Technology of the Hellenic Parliament, which, among its core areas of interest, includes bioethics, scientific research, and the critical relationship between innovation, society, and the environment.
We live in an era of rapid scientific advancement, accompanied by complex ethical dilemmas and emerging challenges.
The need for a multilayered approach to bioethics, one that does not focus solely on the human being but recognizes their connection to other living creatures and the ecosystem, is more urgent today than ever before.
This Summer School, now in its 10th consecutive year, provides an exceptional platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, academic exchange, and the cultivation of ethical awareness.
I would like to congratulate the organizers for the unwavering dedication and for bringing together scholars, students, and professionals from around the world.
As a Committee, we closely follow developments in the field of bioethics and actively support efforts that enhance knowledge and thoughtful reflection on sustainable and just scientific progress.
I wish every success to the work of this Summer School and am confident that the conclusions of your discussions will serve as valuable material for all of us engaged in research, policymaking, and service to society.
Thank you!
